Chapter 31- Introducing Hannah
Hannah- My mother is Jennifer Burrows. I’m twenty, and studying Fashion Design. It’s a sort of match made in heaven. Several of her clients have taken a chance in
my designs, and my name is growing in inner circles. I’m one-third of Jack, which at times becomes
Jacks when Summer is down. Friday nights
are our nights. This Friday were meeting
at Johnaya’s place.
Chapter 32- JHKS
Johnaya- You should have seen his face when he
handed me the keys. It was like he was
losing me. It was somewhat like the look
he had when I caught the bouquet. And
just like then, he didn’t pass up the opportunity to give me the talk.
“Listen, I get all the excitement.
You know I’m proud of you, and I trust you. This is not about that. I’m just saying… don’t get caught up in all
the excitement and lose your head.”
It’s not anything I would have wished for... the breakup, but I got a studio
apartment out of Kayla and my dad’s ordeal.
The rent’s all paid up, and I don’t have to think about it for months. I’m not like Kaylin and Hannah. They kinda have their whole lives figured
out; the who, what, and the whys. But I’m
just working, and waiting for a spark.
Anyway, Summer, Hannah, and Kaylin’s coming over. We’re playing monopoly tonight. It’s one of our things, and I’m the reigning
champion. Usually either I win or
Hannah. Kaylin’s usually an upset.
I’m listening for the door while I hear the radio. Kaylin shows up first, and she’s weird. Something’s up but I don’t dig. There’s no use… Hannah’s coming and she gets
it all upfront. I’ve already set up the coffee table we’ll be playing on, and I have all our favorite things to
eat. I get her text, they’re on the way
up, and I start sharing out the money.
Kaylin takes her place with her bowl in hand, and I see it.
“No you
didn’t.”
