RK- Introducing Hannah and JHKS

The Decks and the Road Renegotiating Kaylin Chapter 31- Introducing Hannah Hannah- My mother is Jennifer Burrows.   I’m twenty, and studying Fashion Design.   It’s a sort of match made in heaven.   Several of her clients have taken a chance in my designs, and my name is growing in inner circles.   I’m one-third of Jack, which at times becomes Jacks when Summer is down.   Friday nights are our nights.   This Friday were meeting at Johnaya’s place. Chapter 32- JHKS Johnaya- You should have seen his face when he handed me the keys.   It was like he was losing me.   It was somewhat like the look he had when I caught the bouquet.   And just like then, he didn’t pass up the opportunity to give me the talk.   “Listen, I get all the excitement.   You know I’m proud of you, and I trust you.   This is not about that.   I’m just saying… don’t get caught up in all the excitement and lose your h...

RK- CheK

The Decks and the Road Renegotiating Kaylin Chapter 30- CheK   Kaylin- We connected in New York.  The call came in as we were boarding our plane.  I couldn’t get to it.  I saw the text minutes later…  “Call me when you can”.  Maybe it’s his intuition that something’s up, and I don’t want to ruin things, so I ignore it.  Che’s studying each step as we make our way onto the plane, find our seats, and load the overhead.  “Maybe we should have just said something.”  He’s right and yet we could both envision the outcome if we had.  It’s too late now.  In a while we’ll be asked to turn all our devices off, and finally maybe we can shut out all the chatter.  I’m sitting at the window, and he’s in the middle.  He props his head on my shoulders and kisses me on the chin.  “I’m ready.”  I’m quiet, but I agree with a kiss.  It’s been a wild six months; a melting pot of past and future.  I...

RK- Has Anybody Seen Kaylin? and Multiple Shades of Green

The Decks and the Road Renegotiating Kaylin Chapter 28- Has Anybody Seen Kaylin? Tayeton- I would never forget her, and the clarity she brought to my life.  It’s hard for a man to fairly give to his children when he’s living with fragments of himself.  I’d been holding on to what felt like an untimely question since Memorial Day.  Certainly, there’s no disagreement that Monica Shepherd and Kat Shepherd are uniquely different.  These days they get along just fine as long as Monica’s uniqueness walks Kat’s fine line.  I never get in the middle, and never saw a reason to.  Then came Monica’s question.  She did her best to corner me, and not alert all the antennas in the room, but it still felt untimely; not that I could think of a better time.  “Would it be too hard for you to consider that your father may have directly caused you to be ill?”  She’d be better to describe to you my look of not just surprise but probably d...

RK- The Righteous Loop Hole

The Decks and the Road Renegotiating Kaylin Chapter 27- The Righteous Loop Hole Offen Unger- It’s hard to describe how one becomes a man like myself, except to say it’s taught.   The people who sit where I sit don’t speak about mindset as much as we recognize mindsets.   And no one certainly speaks about how we exterminate the weaker mindsets or hinder the strong minds that just don’t fit in.   It’s a hard scope to pick apart, but it’s a valid outlook in these circles.   There are some lower classes that just happened to end up with some surnames that aren’t appropriate.   Even on my side of the pond there’s disapproval, and so someone’s got to do the work of taking those names back.   My business wasn’t created for that purpose, but it serves it well.   Unger International is one of the largest security firms in the world.   We have headquarters in Switzerland, Germany, Miami, and New Zealand.   We also train and provide ...

RK- "Sparks in Cuba" and "The Gamble"

The Decks and the Road Renegotiating Kaylin Chapter 25- A Spark in Cuba Kaylin- The bouquet throwing… I’d seen it in movies and I would have thought I would die for the opportunity, but it was the last thing I wanted so I stood aside while all the women gathered.  When it landed in Johnaya’s hands her eyes sprinted to find me.  I raised a cheer and wondered what it would mean.  By eleven most of the guest had begun to fade and I’d already gotten a message from Chad-Ezra to join him.  We made our way off the ship and he continued to lead the way.  He stopped to introduce me to several of his family members until our coast appeared to be clear and we were off to the botanicals.  There were lots of groups of people and a few sets of two scattered in between.  He moved like he’d been there before, but he swore he hadn’t.  When we’d come to a quiet spot he jumped out and asked me, “What did you think of me back in school?” “You just ...

RK- After-Six

Welcome to the Fourth After-Six of Renegotiating Kaylin.   The scripture related to this After-Six is taken from Psalm 107:2.  It reads, "Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story.  Those he redeemed from the hand of the foe."    As you know if you are connected to us on social media at www.facebook.com/road2wholeness, Chapter 24 begins on a Ship with the characters headed to Cuba.    Enjoy the glimpses of Decks to Come as the characters try to get rid of the cards they're already holding.

RK- Mr. and Mrs. Singletary

The Decks and the Road Renegotiating Kaylin Chapter 24- Mr. and Mrs. Singletary Kayla- He definitely asked me twice, and I’ve technically asked him once.   However it goes, we’re getting married again and in advance of our twelve year anniversary.   I boarded the ship with a head full of rods wrapped from back to front in a neon yellow and white floral scarf.   Surprisingly I didn’t get to many odd looks.   I’m sitting at the bar a whole day later with the same head full of rods, and I think by now everyone thinks it’s a new trend.   I feel no shame, it’s all a part of the lead up to my I do’s.   It’s me and Jennifer.   Aisha and Tony left for California to celebrate the newest book release from J.K. Dunbar.   Speaking of Aisha, I got her text this morning.   It’s a secret of course but she’s pregnant again, and this time she’s sure she’ll be writing me a check.    Good… because I didn’t plan on getting married and...
